It has been a while since we last wrote about unincorporated Riverside County where literally thousands of 215/420 cultivators have established operations. The Board of Supervisors public hearing will take place on October 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Board Room of the Riverside County Administrative Center located at 4080 Lemon Street, First Floor, Riverside, CA 92501.
The agenda has not yet been released, but we expect to see a divide regarding zoning classifications. Initially, the Planning Department left Rural Residential out of the zoning, which already allows for agricultural activities. The Planning Commission, after hearing from cultivators in unincorporated Riverside County who would be excluded under the proposed zoning restrictions, asked the planning department to take another look and to update the ordinance accordingly. We certainly hope Riverside County recognizes that the people who built the industry in the first place were being excluded and that the proposed ordinance will take their interests into account.
